Distilling was taking place at Lindores Abbey as early as 1494 and it is known in Scotch whisky circles as the Spiritual Home of Scotch whisky through its connection to a certain Friar John Cor, who in 1494 was commissioned by King James IV to turn 8 bolls of malt into Aqua Vitae (whisky as we now know it).
In 2017, spirit started flowing once again from the new copper stills.
